KC Cheer holds tryouts for the allstar program at the end of April/beginning of May each year, but we accept new athletes year round. If you miss the April clinics, you can always contact us to schedule a private tryout at any time of year and we will find a place for you depending on the needs of our teams.
Sign ups for the cheer prep program take place in June, and then again in September. Those who sign up in June will take a special tumbling class during the summer before the season starts in October, and have the privilege of taking recreational classes with the team member discount. We will hold clinics that follow the same format as the allstar tryouts in September. You don't have to sign up and take the class in June, but it is highly recommended.
Tryout Clinic Registration
Cheerleaders must be registered online in order to participate in tryout clinics. Registration fee is $40.00 and cheerleaders should register for any one of the three (3) posted clinic days. Current KC Cheer athletes not attending any post season competition with KC Cheer (Worlds or The Summit) must attend one of the tryout clinics. Current KC Cheer athletes who are attending a post season event do NOT have to attend one of the tryout clinics. However, you MUST register for the tryout. You will not be charged the clinic fee, but this will indicate your intention to return for the 2017-2018 season. Coaches are using post season events in place of your evaluation to properly place athletes in their practice groups for May.* Cheerleaders will not be able to participate in tryout clinics if they have not registered online.
Parent Informational Meetings
Parents are required to attend one of the available parent informational meetings to learn about the basics of our program, fill out appropriate paperwork and ask questions of our owners and office management. All parents are required to attend this meeting, even if their cheerleader is going to a post season event. Extra forms will be available online in our forms section, but it is required that parents attend at least one meeting. Meetings will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. All meetings will be held in the arena.
After registering online, athletes will attend at least one of the following clinics:
Cheerleaders will be evaluated during tryout clinics and placed into practice groups based on skill and age level for the month of May. Staff will continue to evaluate cheerleaders during May in order to build the final teams for the season. Team placements will be announced at the end of May.
If you have any questions prior to the informational meetings please email Kristi Whitney.
Contract signing for all 2017-2018 athletes will be held on Wednesday, May 10. There will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m. One parent is required to attend one of these sessions.
